ThemeCultural Heritage

Blue engraving links the Arbob Cultural Palace near Khujand with the Mausoleum at the Forty-Four Springs of Shahritus, pairing civic and sacred architecture.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The Arbob Cultural Palace near Khujand forms the main vignette, its columned frontage set behind Tajik inscriptions and the national emblem. Blue guilloche, repeated value figures and a pale watermark field organize the compact face. A solid security thread printed БМТ runs through the paper, adding a functional security element without disturbing the building's horizontal profile.

Reverse

The Mausoleum at the Forty-Four Springs of Shahritus appears in soft blue engraving beneath English and Tajik bank text. The isolated structure is given generous space, with the denomination anchored at the lower corners and the watermark area left open to one side. The restrained setting allows the historic architecture to define the reverse.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-11a(2) is the UV-active variety of the five-diram note, distinguishing it from P-11a(1). Introduced with the somoni system on 30 October 2000, it belongs to the four-note fractional paper series. Its blue palette, compact format and bank-logo watermark place it clearly beside the brown, green and purple diram denominations. For attribution, the fluorescence matters more than ordinary differences in centring or paper tone.
