Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Rama X appears in Royal Thai Air Force uniform, modelled in deep red and brown against orange-green ornament. Thai inscriptions and the Royal Garuda surround the portrait, while the denomination thread and watermark occupy quieter vertical zones. Colour gives the formal face greater warmth without weakening its hierarchy.
Reverse
Rama V and Rama VI form the central pair, continuing the Chakri chronology established across Series 17. Their portraits sit within red and orange ornamental fields rather than a narrative landscape. The Royal Garuda and Thai text close the scene, turning succession and shared royal memory into the denomination's main subject.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this opening Series 17 hundred-baht variety combines the original reverse legal text with the Tantivorawong and Santiprabhob signatures. It was part of the first 20, 50 and 100 baht rollout on 6 April 2018. Later text and signature changes create a substantial comparison run without altering the three royal portraits.
