Green engraving moves from Rama IX's military portrait to King Taksin on horseback, joining two royal images through posture and command.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Rama IX is portrayed in the uniform of Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, framed by Thai text and the Royal Garuda emblem. Green ornament spreads outward in compact layers, with the pale royal watermark at one side and a yellow security thread absorbed into the vertical structure.
Reverse
King Taksin the Great appears on horseback in the equestrian monument at Chanthaburi. The raised figure and forward-moving horse animate the broad green field, while the Royal Garuda and Thai inscriptions hold the scene within an official frame. Monumental memory replaces the still portraiture of the front.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 1981 year marks the introduction of the type, not a printed date. This late variety combines the Somkid Jatusripitak and Pridiyathorn Devakula signatures with the seven-digit serial format that followed the original six-digit notes. Those two details provide the clearest checkpoints within a visually stable Series 12 design.
