Rama IX's green portrait gives way to a royal procession, Rama VIII and a cable-stayed bridge stretching across modern Bangkok.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Rama IX, wearing the uniform of Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, anchors the right side in dark green. The royal seal and Garuda sit among Thai inscriptions and layered ornament, while the watermark space and demetalized thread break the density without separating security from the design.
Reverse
A procession with the king beneath a ceremonial umbrella leads toward a standing portrait of Rama VIII and Bangkok's Rama VIII Bridge. Court ritual and modern engineering share one green panorama, linking dynastic memory to an urban landmark. The Royal Garuda closes the composition at the edge.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2003 year names the introduction of this undated Series 15 type. The ninth variety is identified by the Korn Chatikavanij and Tarisa Watanagase signatures, placing it later in the production sequence than the title alone suggests. It is a useful example of Thai cataloguing driven by signatures within a persistent design.
