Rama IX's Chakri gown opens into the intellectual world of Ramkhamhaeng, where script, kingship and public hearing share one field.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Rama IX appears in the Royal House of Chakri gown, his portrait held within green ornament and Thai inscriptions. The Royal Garuda stands nearby, while a colour-shifting windowed thread and the pale watermark area create vertical accents. Ceremony shapes the face without making it visually remote.
Reverse
King Ramkhamhaeng sits on the Manangkhasila Asana Throne beside the Ramkhamhaeng stele and references to the invention of Lai Sue Thai script. The grievance bell, a public hearing and Sangkhalok wares widen the detailed historical scene from royal portraiture to language, justice and material culture.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this third signature variety belongs to the 2016 phase of Series 16 and carries Apisak Tantivorawong with Veerathai Santiprabhob. It closes the listed signature sequence of the Rama IX twenty-baht type before the Rama X series appeared in 2018, giving it a clear late-series position without relying on a printed date.
