Design & Symbolism
Obverse
King Maha Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) appears in Royal Thai Air Force uniform, facing into a green field of Thai lettering and fine geometric ornament. The Royal Garuda, portrait watermark and windowed thread are aligned around the likeness, giving the first low denomination of Series 17 a clear ceremonial centre.
Reverse
Portraits of Rama I and Rama II occupy the back, beginning the series' ordered passage through the Chakri dynasty. Their paired likenesses replace the single historical scenes used on earlier issues. Green ornament and the Royal Garuda keep the dynastic sequence visually connected to Rama X on the face.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this is the first text and signature stage of the Series 17 twenty-baht note, introduced on 6 April 2018. It retains the original legal warning on the lower-right reverse; a revised wording followed later that year. The Tantivorawong and Santiprabhob signatures complete the attribution of this opening variety.
