ThemePortraits & People

Rama X and the first Chakri kings pass from paper into clear polymer, where light becomes part of the established green design.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Rama X remains in Royal Thai Air Force uniform, surrounded by green Thai lettering and the Royal Garuda. Polymer opens transparent areas around the established portrait layout, including a tactile upper window and a lower window that shifts from translucent yellow to red. The familiar face gains depth through transmitted light.

Reverse

Rama I and Rama II retain their paired position on the reverse, preserving the opening chapter of the Chakri sequence from the paper issue. Green ornament moves across opaque and transparent surfaces, while aligned Garuda elements and the simulated denomination thread make the polymer structure visible without displacing the portraits.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this is the initial Safeguard form of Thailand's circulating twenty-baht polymer note, released on 24 March 2022 with the Arkhom Termpittayapaisith and Sethaput Suthiwartnarueput signatures. A companion Guardian production exists under a separate subvariety, so polymer platform and signature must be read together even though the royal design remains constant.
