Blue engraving moves from Rama IX's ceremonial portrait into King Naresuan's campaign, where battle and independence unfold around sacred architecture.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Rama IX is shown in the Royal House of Chakri gown against a blue field of Thai text and interlaced ornament. The Royal Garuda, portrait watermark and windowed denomination thread form a disciplined vertical sequence, leaving the king's formal likeness as the calm centre before the historical action on the reverse.
Reverse
King Naresuan leads soldiers up ladders against a Burmese camp, then reappears in monuments associated with victory and independence. One statue shows him pouring water to declare independence, while Phra Chedi Chai Mongkol rises nearby. The crowded narrative turns the reverse into a compressed historical chronicle.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2015 title identifies the Sommai Phasee and Prasarn Trairatvorakul signature stage of an otherwise undated note. This third variety precedes the final Tantivorawong and Santiprabhob pairing in the same design. It offers a precise signature step within Series 16 and a strong military-history subject within Thailand's royal sequence.
