ThemePortraits & People

Red-violet engraving sharpens the last portrait denomination of the coupon series, with Suvorov facing an architectural reverse centred on Tiraspol's parliament.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Alexander Suvorov's portrait dominates the right side, printed in red-violet over a field of closely spaced guilloche. The large central 10 is placed beneath the coupon inscription, while three language forms identify the bank across the lower portion. Serial numbers, the oval 1994 date and restrained value devices complete a compact but clearly ordered face.

Reverse

The parliament building in Tiraspol is shown behind a line of trees, enclosed by red-violet ornament and a broad white watermark field at right. An oversized 10 provides immediate recognition on the left, with the denomination repeated in words below. The anti-counterfeiting warning follows the upper border, integrating legal text into the architecture-led composition.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-18 closes the portrait subgroup before the series changes to Suvorov's equestrian monument. Its red-violet base was subsequently used for the 100,000-rouble P-31, whose large revaluation marks answer the rapid loss of purchasing power. Pairing the original ten-rouble note with that later type gives a particularly direct view of the inflationary progression within this compact series.
