Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Habib Bourguiba appears at the right in a dark reddish-brown portrait, beside the curved seating of the Roman theatre at Carthage. The stone tiers occupy the centre, with a pale circular watermark area to the left. Olive-green underprinting extends beneath the archaeological view.
Reverse
Korbous spreads along the foot of a steep coastal hillside, its light-coloured buildings overlooking the sea on the Cape Bon peninsula. The village is shown together with the rocky shore beneath it. A circular watermark reserve occupies the right side.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the printed 1980 date should not be confused with the year this note entered circulation: the issue was introduced in October 1984. That gap matters when arranging Tunisia's late Bourguiba-period notes chronologically. The Sioud–Ghenima signature pair belongs with the dated printing, even though the design reached circulation several years later.
