Farhat Hached's red-pink portrait is paired with two views of El Jem's Roman amphitheatre and a carved Corinthian capital.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Farhat Hached occupies the centre-right, his dark jacket and shaded face standing against a lighter pink field. A large 20 appears at the left, with a circular colour-changing feature above it. Fine geometric patterns continue behind the Arabic lettering; the watermark panel sits at the right edge.
Reverse
El Jem's amphitheatre appears twice: a close view records its tiers of arches, while an aerial view reveals the oval arena and surrounding walls. A Corinthian column capital stands in the foreground, its carved foliage enlarged beside the two architectural views.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2017 printing is the first dated version of this Hached twenty-dinar design. The Rekik–Ayari signatures distinguish it from the later 2025 reprint. Its RAPID thread also introduced a readily visible movement effect to the denomination, with the background appearing to shift behind repeated 20s as the note is tilted.
