Carthage's curved harbour and Hannibal's engraved helmet share a field of finely patterned green.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Carthage's concentric harbour walls occupy the right beside Hannibal's helmeted profile. An olive branch rises behind Hannibal's helmet on the left, over finely patterned green underprinting. Exposed sections of the security thread run vertically through the design, while the light watermark panel remains along the left edge.
Reverse
The numeral 7 forms a framework for images of shipping, wildlife, industry and ancient mosaic work. A sailing vessel sits near its upper section, with an antelope, flamingo, refinery and fish appearing elsewhere in the montage. Pale green bands radiate behind the numeral.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this is the security-updated continuation of the Hannibal five dinars, not a wholly new portrait type. The 2008 date, Zar–Baccar signatures and windowed thread distinguish it from the 1993 version. Its expanded watermark treatment also includes an electrotype 5 and Cornerstones, providing another useful comparison when the notes are held to light.
