Agronomist Slaheddine El Amami and the long arches of the Zaghouan aqueduct meet in this green-blue five-dinar design.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
El Amami's bespectacled portrait occupies the right-centre, set against green and blue geometric ornament. A large 5 appears at the left, beneath a circular colour-changing feature. Yellow-green underprinting surrounds the portrait, with the pale watermark panel at the far right.
Reverse
The Roman aqueduct at Zaghouan extends across the note in a long succession of arches. Its masonry piers diminish in the distance, tracing the elevated watercourse across the landscape. The nearer arches occupy most of the note's height, above a border of blue and green ornament.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2025 date marks a later printing of the five-dinar design introduced in 2022, not a new El Amami portrait type. Abdessalem–Nouri signatures identify the updated issue. It can be placed beside the earlier version to follow administrative changes while the agronomist-and-aqueduct pairing remains unchanged across the design family.
