Gold ornament gathers Saparmurat Niyazov and five tribal carpet guls before the reverse turns to Turkmen jewellery and craftsmanship.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
A portrait of President Saparmurat Niyazov shares the face with the national emblem and carpet guls of the Chowdur, Ersari, Saryk, Teke and Yomut tribes. Gold and brown linework gives the high denomination a warmer register than the lower values. The serials run horizontally in black and vertically in red.
Reverse
Traditional jewellery becomes the central reverse subject, surrounded by the same five tribal carpet guls that organize the face. Fine gold ornament allows metalwork and textile design to meet within one composition, giving applied arts unusual prominence on a high-value note. Turkmen inscriptions and denomination figures complete the broad frame.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this highest value in the compact 2005 group uses a windowed TMB 500 thread and a Niyazov watermark augmented by his electrotype signature and cornerstones. Regular notes carry AA-AC prefixes and the presidential signature, while the reported ZZ replacement remains separately classified. The gold palette and jewellery reverse are unique within the group.
