ThemeCultural Heritage

Orange patterning brings a Karimojong profile and Nyero rock art into dialogue with the Uganda kob and Kampala's Independence Monument.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

A profile wearing a Karimojong headdress meets motifs derived from the Nyero rock paintings and a broad East African savannah. The national emblem, circular registration device and colour-shifting feature occupy the surrounding warm orange field, while patterned bands recall Uganda's basketry and woven design traditions.

Reverse

The Uganda kob stands beside the national map and the Independence Monument in Kampala, with the Karimojong profile repeated as a unifying device. A rising sun and circular ornament expand the scene beyond a single landmark. Wildlife, territory and independence are compressed into one flowing orange composition.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the 2021-dated variety belongs to the final listed stage signed by Governor Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile with Secretary Susan Wasagali Kanyemibwa. Its EN-FK prefix range separates it from the subsequent Atingi-Ego issues. The design remains part of Uganda's coordinated 2010 family, so date and signatures carry the attribution.
