The 2021 10,000 Sum replaces the denomination’s earlier institutional imagery with a Tashkent-centered Great Silk Road design built around Ko’kaldosh Madrasah and Shoshtepa.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Blue, purple and pink fields center on Ko'kaldosh Madrasah in Tashkent, paired with a Tashkent-gate registration device. Caravan routes extend across a map of Uzbekistan, while textile patterns, Uzbek inscriptions and the national coat of arms occupy the surrounding space. The color-shifting denomination and purple windowed thread provide strong modern security accents.
Reverse
Shoshtepa archaeological monument appears in the background, with a tenth-century tray and jug from Tashkent enlarged in the foreground. An embroidery design and the Tashkent-gate motif link the archaeological imagery to the decorative framework. Uzbek inscriptions and bold denomination numerals occupy the outer fields, while blue and purple angular panels structure the reverse.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-89 replaces the 2017 Senate-building design with Ko’kaldosh Madrasah, caravan routes and Shoshtepa archaeology. The denomination moves into the Great Silk Road series while also gaining a 3-mm purple windowed UZB thread.
