A green-accented coat-of-arms front gives way to Sher-Dor Madrasah in Samarkand, tying the 3 Sum to both state identity and architectural heritage.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Orange, blue and green printing organizes the front around the coat of arms of Uzbekistan at left and the large numeral 3 at right. Uzbek inscriptions identify the issuing bank and denomination, with the serial number aligned along the lower edge. A fine guilloche field and pale patterned bands complete the compact, symmetrical design.

Reverse

The portal of Sher-Dor Madrasah at the Registan in Samarkand forms the principal reverse image, drawn in pale green within an ornate central frame. Four corner cartouches repeat the numeral 3, while small star and vegetal ornaments punctuate the surrounding field. Subtle geometric patterning extends behind the architectural vignette and across the borders.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-62 is the unusual 3 Sum denomination of the first-sum series, with regular prefixes BA and BB. It circulated only during the November 1993–August 1994 first-sum interval before the 1,000:1 revaluation.
