Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Red, green and yellow guilloche fields place the coat of arms of Uzbekistan at left-center and the large denomination 500 across the lower middle. Uzbek inscriptions follow the upper border, with serial numbers in the lower field and a pale watermark panel at right. Overlapping rosettes and geometric stars create a vivid layered composition.
Reverse
The equestrian monument of Amir Temur in Tashkent occupies the main reverse vignette, showing the mounted figure in profile above a decorated base. A large circular tile-inspired medallion rises behind and to the right, while denomination numerals anchor the corners. Red and green ornamental bands and fine line patterns frame the monument.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-81(1) is identified by the central 5 in 500 showing no UV activity. The note is dated 1999 but was introduced on 1 June 2000; the artwork is otherwise shared with P-81(2), so UV inspection is the practical Pick-level distinction.
