A spear-bearing chief and a four-figure family monument occupy opposite faces of Vanuatu's purple-pink two-hundred-vatu note.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
The national arms place a standing chief with a spear inside a circular frame of traditional motifs. Violet engraving sets the figure against a pale pink field, with the denomination at the left and Vanuatu's bank title above. A windowed security thread runs vertically beside the arms.
Reverse
Port Vila's family monument appears at the right, showing a man, woman, boy and infant girl. To the left, a seated assembly depicts a traditional parliament in session. The Vanuatu flag appears above the sculpted family, while the denomination frames the scene.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2007 two hundred vatu updates a design used since 1995 with a windowed security thread and a revised watermark. Tevi–Jimmy signatures identify this printing. Comparing it with the earlier solid-thread issue shows how the security features changed while the chief, traditional assembly and family monument remained.
