ThemeCultural Heritage

A standing chief, a seated assembly and a family monument appear across Vanuatu's violet-and-rose design.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

A standing chief forms the centre of the national arms, holding his spear within a rounded ornamental frame. Violet and rose underprinting surround the figure. Large value numerals, the bank title and two signatures occupy the neighbouring panels, with a windowed thread to one side.

Reverse

A seated traditional assembly fills the left side beside Port Vila's family monument. Four sculpted figures form the group at the right: a man, a woman, a boy and an infant girl. The Vanuatu flag rises above them, with two-hundred-vatu values around the scene.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-8c is a signature change within the established paper two-hundred-vatu design: Sela Molisa replaces Willie Jimmy as finance minister while Odo Tevi remains governor. The note itself is undated. Its place beside P-8b is therefore best established by the signatures, not by searching the engraving for a printed 2011 date.
