Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi is paired with hawksbill turtles and the Macanao landscape on this 5,000 Bolívares issue from Venezuela’s rapidly expanding late Bolívar Fuerte series.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The vertical obverse presents Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi against green security patterns, with the denomination and country name above the portrait. Serial numbers, the issue date and two signatures are arranged through the upper field, alongside tactile and registration elements.

Reverse

Two hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata) swim before the Macanao Mountains and the landscape of Laguna de la Restinga National Park. The Venezuelan coat of arms appears at left, with the issuer name and 5000 Bolívares denomination framing the horizontal reverse.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-97b is the 23 March 2017 middle stage of the 5,000 Bolívares sequence. It keeps the wide security strip of the original form but changes to the Sanguino/Khan signatures, placing it between the 2016 P-97a and the more heavily revised P-97c within a compact late-Bolívar Fuerte variety run.
