Design & Symbolism

Obverse

A brown portrait of Ho Chi Minh anchors the right half, adjoining the clear polymer window at the edge. The national coat of arms sits within the lighter left field, while green and yellow guilloche work carries the denomination across the centre. Large vertical and horizontal values remain prominent despite the compact dimensions.

Reverse

The Bach Ho oil field is shown through a sequence of offshore platforms joined by decks, towers and working structures. Their dark outlines cross a yellow-green ground and create a low, continuous industrial skyline above the water. The open polymer window at left prevents the detailed machinery from making the composition feel enclosed.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the 2019 note begins the later date run catalogued under the base P-119 number after the sequence of lettered Pick varieties. That makes the printed year essential when assembling a complete chronology of this unchanged design. It retains both the One Pillar Pagoda shadow image and the front denomination punctuation error found throughout the type.
