Design & Symbolism
Obverse
A dark green portrait of Ho Chi Minh occupies the right side, set beside a clear polymer window and a vertical value. The national coat of arms and large denomination balance the left half over orange and pale green security patterns. Fine rays and geometric devices connect the central inscriptions to the portrait without closing the open areas around the windows.
Reverse
Van Mieu, the Temple of Literature, and Quoc Tu Giam, the Imperial Academy, form the reverse scene in Hanoi. A traditional gate and layered roofs rise behind a stone-bordered courtyard, with trees softening the architectural lines. Dark green engraving gives the historic educational complex clarity against the lighter multicolour ground.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the 2021 P-122 continues a 100,000-dong polymer design first introduced on 1 September 2004. The type contains a confirmed microprinting error on every date: one zero is missing from the second complete numerical spelling of the denomination on the front. That persistent detail gives a date-run note an additional point of close examination.
