Warm earth tones move from Ho Chi Minh's portrait toward a cultivated field, joining political memory to the mechanics of rural work.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Ho Chi Minh appears at right within brown and orange engraving, facing the national coat of arms and a pale circular denomination device. The large 200 at centre anchors the value, while compact Vietnamese text and serial numbers occupy the upper field. Fine ornamental curves keep the portrait visually connected to the emblem without crowding either subject.

Reverse

Field workers spread across the reverse beside a tractor moving through the cultivated land. The machine's heavy wheels and the low line of figures create a strong horizontal rhythm, framed by repeated denomination devices and agricultural ornament. Rather than presenting an idealised landscape alone, the scene makes labour and mechanisation the centre of the design.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-100c(1) is one of the closely catalogued production varieties within Vietnam's 1987 200-dong type. The denomination entered circulation on 30 September 1987 as the post-reform currency expanded beyond the small values of 1985. Its separate Pick sub-number rewards careful set building while retaining the same agricultural narrative as the wider issue.
