ThemeAgriculture

A tractor advances beneath open sky as the portrait-led face gives way to the disciplined movement of collective fieldwork.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The face places Ho Chi Minh at right, where fine brown linework gives the portrait weight against a pale orange and blue ground. At left, the national coat of arms rises from a patterned medallion, while the central 200 supplies a bold numerical counterpoint. The composition moves cleanly between person, emblem and value without allowing the ornament to dominate.

Reverse

A tractor and several workers occupy the cultivated field on the reverse, their shared direction carrying the scene steadily across the note. Broad tyres, furrowed ground and low vegetation make the image more documentary than pastoral. Repeated numerals close the corners, leaving the centre to agricultural labour and the machinery associated with it.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-100c(2) forms the companion variety to P-100c(1) within a design introduced in September 1987. Its distinction lies in production detail rather than new artwork, making side-by-side comparison central to its appeal. The type remained part of Vietnam's expanding post-reform currency until the older paper series was withdrawn in December 2003.
