Rows of textile machinery recede behind four workers, carrying the note from portraiture into the ordered tempo of factory production.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Ho Chi Minh's portrait rises at right in black and purple, facing the national coat of arms and a red serial number across the upper field. The written denomination occupies the centre, while pink, green and blue ornament builds a dense but controlled frame. Strong corner numerals and stylised floral devices give the face a broad horizontal balance.
Reverse
Four women work along parallel rows of machinery inside a textile factory. Repeating rails, spindles and overhead lines deepen the room behind them, while the figures interrupt the mechanical geometry with measured movement. The scene turns industrial production into a collective human activity rather than presenting the machines in isolation.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-107a(1) belongs to the 2,000-dong type introduced on 20 October 1989 alongside the new 1,000-dong issue. Its Pick sub-number identifies one production variety within a shared design, making it relevant to collectors who build beyond basic denomination sets. The factory subject also fixes the note firmly within the industrial imagery of Vietnam's late-1980s currency.
