ThemeIndustry & Infrastructure

Pink and violet ornament gives way to a deep factory interior, where workers and machinery share the same steady rhythm.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The face sets Ho Chi Minh at right against a multicoloured field of pink, purple, green and pale blue. At left, the national coat of arms balances the portrait, while the denomination is repeated in words and large corner numerals. Curved floral elements soften the strict horizontal frame and guide the eye toward the central text.

Reverse

A textile mill fills the reverse with four female workers positioned between long ranks of machinery. Strong perspective lines carry the eye into the workshop, and the repeated equipment gives the composition a deliberate industrial cadence. The figures remain individually legible, preventing the ordered interior from becoming an abstract pattern.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, P-107a(2) completes the paired production study of the 1988-dated 2,000-dong design. The artwork and issue history remain shared with P-107a(1), so the value of the distinction lies in precise catalogue attribution rather than a second pictorial type. Retained until December 2003, the note spans a substantial period of economic change from a distinctly late-socialist visual starting point.
