Vietnam 20000 Dong 2021, P-120, UNC

The Japanese Covered Bridge rises quietly above the water, bringing one of Hoi An's best-known historic structures into Vietnam's polymer series.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

Blue, pink and green printing surrounds Ho Chi Minh's portrait on the right and the national coat of arms at left. A large dark transparent window cuts into the outer right edge, answered by a smaller clear feature on the opposite side. The broad 20,000 value at lower left gives the light composition a firm visual base.

Reverse

Chua Cau, the Japanese Covered Bridge in Hoi An, spans the water in a finely drawn blue architectural vignette. Its tiled roof, timber supports and adjoining structure are set against trees and a quiet riverbank. Curving wave ornament below the bridge echoes the water and draws the scene into the large transparent window at left.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, the 2021 P-120 belongs to the later base-number dates of a polymer design introduced on 17 May 2006. The printed year is therefore the key distinction within a type whose bridge subject and principal security layout remained unchanged. It offers a direct chronological companion to the 2022 issue without claiming a separate Pick suffix.
