Dense brown ornament gives way to a tractor crossing open farmland on this small South Vietnamese one-dong note.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
The value 1 sits inside a rosette to the left of a pale circular watermark area. Brown linework and orange underprinting fill the surrounding panels with fine guilloche, while the bank title spans the upper edge.
Reverse
A tractor and its driver cross a field beneath a low line of trees. The tractor occupies the right half, balanced by the pale circular watermark reserve at the left. A closely patterned brown border encloses the agricultural view.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, the tractor makes this one dong a useful counterpart to earlier South Vietnamese notes showing buffalo-powered cultivation. The comparison follows a change in the depicted method of farm work within the same country's currency. Its Dõng–Cảnh signatures place the design within the National Bank's 1964 issue group.
