Deep blue engraving returns to Al Baqilyah Mosque and Ma'rib Dam, but a revised reverse identifies this as the Republic of Yemen issue.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Al Baqilyah Mosque anchors the left side in blue and black, with its dome and slender minaret set against a soft multicolour underprint. Arabic inscriptions and the governor's signature spread across the centre, while large numerals secure the corners. Fine geometric borders keep the composition formal without crowding the pale central field.
Reverse
The reverse combines Ma'rib Dam with a coffee shrub and bilingual bank text. Arabic wording and an additional 10 at lower right distinguish this layout from the visually similar P-23 issue, while the value is repeated again at upper left. Blue linework ties the dam, foliage and ornamental border into a single balanced panel.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-24 is the Republic of Yemen continuation of the earlier 10-rial design rather than a wholly new composition. Its 1992 catalogue date and March 1993 introduction sit after the short transitional P-23 pairing. The extra lower-right value and Arabic caption provide an immediate visual check, making this a useful reference note when arranging the two related types side by side.
