The 2024-dated 10 Kwacha launches Zambia’s redesigned series on Durasafe, pairing Kariba Dam with pangolins and Kabwelume Falls.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
Green and red fields show an African fish eagle in flight across the center-right, with Kariba Dam on the Zambezi River forming the economic-sector background. The Bank of Zambia logo, map of Zambia in color-shifting ink and national coat of arms occupy the surrounding space. Floral registration motifs and security patterns define the long edges.
Reverse
Kabwelume Falls spreads across the background, accompanied by a Zambia teak tree and two pangolins in the foreground. The Bank of Zambia title and ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION motto run along the upper area, with denomination numerals at the corners. Floral registration motifs and layered green-red patterns connect the wildlife, tree and waterfall.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-62 is the 10 Kwacha entry in Zambia’s redesigned 2024-dated series, introduced on 31 March 2025. It and the 20 Kwacha are the only Durasafe denominations in the series; the four higher values use paper.
