The upgraded 20 ZiG note places an African elephant at the centre of Zimbabwe’s 2026 Big 5 series, paired with balancing rocks and the new Parliament complex.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
The brown obverse features an African elephant at left and the Chiremba balancing rocks at right, with gold-bar motifs worked into the layout. The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe title and TWENTY ZiG denomination are supported by Zimbabwe Bird-on-star security devices and tactile marks.
Reverse
Zimbabwe’s New Parliament Building at Mount Hampden forms the principal reverse vignette, accompanied by gold-bar imagery and the Zimbabwe Bird-on-star registration device. Large 20 numerals and brown geometric security patterns frame the architecture.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, P-116 is the 20 ZiG member of the first three upgraded Big 5 notes issued on 7 April 2026. The elephant denomination sits between the smaller buffalo 10 ZiG and larger rhinoceros 50 ZiG, placing it at the centre of the initial redesigned Zimbabwe Gold banknote set.
