Banknotes of the Sri Lankan rupee are produced by De La Rue Lanka in Biyagama and are immediately recognisable by their vertical reverse compositions. The visual programme blends traditional Kandyan dancers with endemic wildlife, including birds and butterflies, alongside architectural and cultural motifs. This combination creates a dynamic contrast between movement and nature, reinforced by vivid colour transitions and finely controlled engraving.
