The Turkish lira (TRY) underwent a decisive transformation in 2005 with the removal of six zeros, marking the end of prolonged inflationary cycles and the introduction of a stable denomination system. Banknotes of the E-9 series maintain the consistent portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk on the obverse, establishing a continuous republican identity across all denominations. The reverse program introduces figures from science, literature and architecture, including Cahit Arf and Mimar Kemaleddin, reflecting a deliberate shift toward intellectual and cultural representation. Technically, the series incorporates advanced optically variable devices (OVD) in the form of high-quality holographic strips, alongside colour-shifting inks, microtext and multi-tone watermarks.
