Obverse

The obverse is centred on the main Bank of Somaliland building in Hargeysa, framed by Arabic, English and Somali text, trees, camels and layered ornamental panels. The composition gives the denomination a formal institutional weight, linking the higher value note to the authority of the issuing bank and the administrative centre of Somaliland.

Reverse

The reverse turns toward Berbera dockside, where herdsmen gather with Somali sheep and goats near a ship and trucks. This coastal scene places the shilling within the movement of livestock and trade, connecting inland pastoral wealth with port activity and the practical economy behind the currency.
