Obverse
Cool greens and muted rose underprints establish a composed architectural field. At the upper centre, the seal of Da Afghanistan Bank stabilizes the design — an emblem of continuity set within formal ornamental scrollwork.
To the right stands the Masjid-i Jami of Herat. Its monumental iwan and twin minarets are engraved with deliberate precision, every line reinforcing vertical strength and sacred proportion. The mosque is not presented as spectacle, but as foundation — an enduring spiritual axis during a period of political uncertainty.
The red serial numbers cut across the structured calm of the composition. Geometry and calligraphy coexist in measured balance. Here, value is framed through permanence rather than personality.
Reverse
On the reverse, the Arch of Qala-e-Bost opens toward landscape and distance. The structure stands solitary against hills and open sky — part ruin, part threshold. Where the mosque embodies devotion enclosed within form, the arch gestures outward.
The inscription “DaAfghanistanBank,” joined in this P-63a variety, crowns the scene with typographic clarity. The cool tonal palette allows the landscape to breathe, creating depth within restraint.

For collectors, the 10,000 Afghanis of SH 1372 represents a high denomination issued during a transitional and economically pressured period of the First Afghani era. The P-63a variety is identifiable by the joined “DaAfghanistan” inscription and Goznak production, offering a clear technical distinction within the series. In UNC condition, the sharpness of intaglio lines, intact paper texture, and clean colour registration reveal the full architectural precision of the engraving.
