Eastern Caribbean States 5 Dollars 2021, P-56, UNC

Emerald tones and transparent geometry open a tropical composition where islands, wildlife, and institutions drift together across Caribbean waters.

Design & Symbolism

Obverse

The vertically oriented obverse unfolds around the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II wearing Grand Duchess Vladimir’s Tiara and Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee necklace. Around her, marine and tropical imagery emerges through a green-throated carib, sea turtle, fish, and floral elements layered within the note’s modern polymer architecture. Geometric windows and transparent forms reshape the composition into a contemporary visual language where regional boundaries give way to a broader narrative of interconnected island life.

Reverse

The reverse widens into a regional landscape composed of Trafalgar Falls in Dominica, Admirals House in Antigua and Barbuda, and a map of the Eastern Caribbean islands. Water, architecture, and geography merge into a panoramic composition where separate territories become part of a shared visual structure. The movement from portraiture toward landscape and cartography transforms the note into a compact atlas of the Eastern Caribbean community.

Collector’s Insight

For collectors, this polymer issue belongs to one of the most visually ambitious modern Caribbean series. Its vertical format, transparent security windows, and multinational iconography create a compelling intersection between technological innovation, regional integration, and the geography of a shared currency system.
