Violet polymer tones give the Eastern Caribbean 20 Dollars note the character of island governance, royal continuity, and tropical life arranged within a modern vertical format.
Design & Symbolism
Obverse
The obverse presents Queen Elizabeth II wearing Grand Duchess Vladimir’s tiara and Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee necklace, with fuchsia flowers above, a butterfly at the upper left, and the green-throated carib and sea turtle near the centre. Below, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank headquarters in Basseterre anchors the design in regional monetary authority, while the raised geometric feature in the upper-left area adds an accessibility detail for visually impaired users.
Reverse
The reverse combines the map of the Eastern Caribbean States with Government House in Montserrat and nutmeg fruits from Grenada. The composition moves between political administration and island agriculture, placing official architecture, regional geography, and botanical identity within a single shared currency design.
Collector’s Insight
For collectors, this 20 Dollars note is the 2019 P-58 polymer issue signed by Timothy Antoine, Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. Its De La Rue production, SAFEGUARD substrate, absence of a security thread, denomination MASK watermark-equivalent feature, raised accessibility design, and PF-PU prefix range give the note a precise technical place within the ECCB’s first vertical polymer series.
